2 Years On Team TFC
July 2021 I was self-employed and studying online, feeling a little disconnected from the outside world I downloaded the Seek app and just put the feelers out there to see what was around, in my head I was hoping to find something breezy I could just slip into, do the work, have good chats and come home to my desk at the end of the day, an ad for TFC popped up in notifications that seemed to fit the bill, the advertised role was for administration and front desk
They had a really cool application process that I could tell they had put some thought into (it's not easy to hire in combat sports, so I appreciated this)
At around 3 weeks into the position I said hey thanks for the pay cheques but I don't really think you need me here... and that's when shit started to get wild and the rest is history
Over the last 2 years, alongside this team, these are my top 5 key highlights, in no particular order!
1. Designed and delivered 3 fight camps to 150 participants from our general membership base, with epic fight nights in both Muay Thai and Boxing
2. TFC was able to purchase their own property and created a purpose built combat sports learning centre, a huge challenge at the time as I was in the U.K for the Comm Games and we had 4 weeks from when I landed back in the country for the relocation, membership drive, new marketing campaigns and a summer Fight Camp all at once
3. Hitting the 1000 member milestone, and counting
4. Growing the team from 10-12 to now 26 staff, and pumped to be a part of creating real career pathways and industry wage standards for combat sports, outside of fighting and coaching
5. The expansion of our fight teams in every code
AND THIS WEEK... the delivery of our upgraded member assist portal is something I'm super proud of, it's high level service to support new comers to combat sports, assist members understand the pathways for learning and training available to them, including the direct pathway to the TFC Fight Team, as well as the automation of some processes to bring some ease into it, and a new personal training system that is already helping our fighters increase their earning potential while they train without doing the heavy lifting!
We are systemising and processing and proceduring and performance managing our way to the overall vision and mission of this company and I'm incredibly grateful to have a chapter in this story, 2 years deep, I didn't know it was gonna look like this, but it's crazy the way life serves you up exactly what you asked for 💫
